“Southpaw construction is the first contractor that I’ve totally trusted and felt comfortable with any decision they have made regarding my house. Their work has exceeded my highest expectations. They do this through constant consulting, briefing me on alternative methods and an extraordinary attention to detail. Ryan is always looking two or three steps ahead of the work and anticipates and corrects issues before they become problems.”

“Southpaw Construction is recognized as a “top notch” building contractor in this area. Ryan Williams and his crew were highly recommended to assist our church in planning an Education and Fellowship Addition to an existing church building. We considered various contractors, but his expertise in codes, regulations, and positive attitude in working with us made him our first choice. We were not disappointed! He had excellent ideas and was a joy to work with. He and his crew were professional, cost conscious and outstanding craftsmen. The project was completed on time and under budget. I highly recommend Southpaw Construction without reservation.”

“Several years ago we experienced a broken water pipe during one of the coldest winters in 20 years at our cabin in Kalkaska and contracted with a restoration company for the water remediation. We asked for a referral and were given Ryan Williams name. We contacted Ryan and several other contractors for a walk through for the repairs and a bid. Ryan provided several options that allowed us to upgrade our cabin repairs to a re-model of the main floor and we added a water softener, washer and dryer and designed the bath room to accommodate a handicap person. The attention to detail and follow up made the project run smoothly and we are pleased with the results and meeting the budget we agreed to at the beginning of the project.
A few years ago we purchased a vacant lake lot and called on Ryan. Ryan introduced us to a local home designer and we worked together to design the floor plan to meet our family needs. Southpaw Construction built the home in less than seven months starting in October and ending in April. We visited most weekends where Ryan provided the opportunity to see window openings, etc. and make changes before it became too costly. Ryan’s attention to detail and numerous meetings to go over designs and final orders made our experience exciting and our finished home something we are proud of.
Ryan is a good listener, creative and an experienced professional that we enjoyed working with. We recommend Southpaw Construction with pride.”

“Southpaw Construction installed two new, large Pella picture windows for me. The service was timely, and the quality of work met Pella’s and my expectations. A job well done.”

“Southpaw Construction served as the general contractor for the Kalkaska United Methodist Church’s 11,000 sq. ft. addition built in 2005-2006. The 4500 sq. ft. upper floor ministry center with full basement for educational classrooms plus storage areas on both levels was made possible because Southpaw’s owner, Ryan Williams, came on board at just the right time. His building experience, commitment to the project, and attention to detail resulted in a structure that blended perfectly with our existing building and has been a show piece for our church to the community. Ryan’s control of the bidding process for subcontractors saved us tens of thousands of dollars that we could then use to get the most building for our money and a lower mortgage.
The construction included concrete-filled Styrofoam (ICF) block walls for both the 11 foot basement and 16 foot main floor, scissor truss ceilings, in-floor heat in the basement,a poured lite-concrete main floor, and forced air heating-air conditioning on the main floor. A handicapped lift, covered drive-through drop off, and a serving area for dinners and coffee hour.
As church co-chairman of the building project, I worked hand-in-hand with Ryan throughout the project. Because I was a high school teacher at the time, I donated my entire summers in 2005 and 2006 and worked 40 hour weeks as a volunteer under Ryan’s direction. Several things impressed me about Ryan. First, Ryan is a Christian man of high moral integrity. He is honest and fair in his dealings with customers and subcontractors. Second, he does not cut corners. If anything he overbuilds if necessary, and personally inspects the workmanship of those who work for and under him, requiring them to redo substandard work until it meets his high standards. Third, he is dependable, establishing deadlines and keeping to them. He stays in frequent contact with his customers and is flexible with design changes and creative additions.
I was so impressed by Ryan’s work ethics and professionalism, that when I retired from teaching in 2008,I went to work part time for him and am still working for him today!”
